Join us for our virtual workshop dealing with the Planning Enforcement basics- aimed at Local Authority Planning Enforcement officers

Programme

On 13 May 2022 Ivy Legal will again be hosting a virtual planning enforcement workshop and Mike Hyde, Izindi Visagie and Neill Whittaker will speak about the following: 


1. First Principles

Why we have a planning system, the role of planning enforcement, the difference between Districts, County, Unitaries, National Park Authorities, LPA enforcement statistics, etc.


2. Investigations/fact finding

Logging complaints, background research, site visits, rights of entry, warrants to enter land, powers to investigate (S330s, PCNs), the importance of good record keeping etc.


3. Defining development

The need for permission, operational development, identifying the planning unit, material changes of use etc. We will also touch on the immunity rules, and expediency.


4. The Enforcement ‘Tool Kit’

Enforcement Notices, BCNs, and SNs/TSNs, i.e. how to draft and serve.
